Boston College Promises To Provide Students Sanctuary From Snow, No Word Yet About White Nationalist US Administration

MALONEY PRESIDENTIAL SUITE — Taking advantage of yesterday’s snow day for some much-needed personal time, University President Rev. William P. Leahy, S.J., sat down with several members of the press to affirm Boston College’s commitment to keeping its students safe from the weather, but not the white nationalists passing executive orders in the White House. “When it comes to fierce winter storms, it’s of the utmost importance to me that my students are protected and safe from nature’s wrath. However, when it comes to safeguarding undocumented or religious minority students from Steve Bannon’s White House, I cannot promise the same protection,” said Leahy, who is the only president of the United States’ twenty-eight Jesuit schools to not sign the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities’ statement to promise “[protecting] to the fullest extent of the law undocumented students on our campus.” Leahy has already signed to promise his commitment to upholding Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA); however, this action does not explicitly guarantee Boston College as a sanctuary campus, nor does it provide free housing to students who fear going home because they might not get back into the United States. At press time, top American officials were still eschewing the religious freedom on which the United States were founded because of the irrational fear they have placed on blanket-statements of people.
